Working with Tinkelman Architecture and being inspired by grand gestures the building is dressed with a bold metallic finish and multi story windows punctuated by bris solei wrapping the building’s dominate corner. This is the residential entrance of the building and it is designed as a gesture that is meant to announce the building’s presence on the landscape and firmly anchor the building to its site. The building is located on the edge of the Town of Poughkeepsie and the neighboring City of Poughkeepsie and functions as a visual marker between the two communities. The facades of the building are clad with a carefully considered composition of cementitious panels and clapboard siding. The base of the building will house retail businesses and is defined by generous amounts of glass and a loggia along the residential side of the street. This is meant to draw visitors in and start a dialogue between the community and the building. Above the retail ground floor are a combination of 28 one bedroom and two bedroom apartment units. The top of the building is crowned with a series of community spaces for the building residents that includes an outdoor patio space. This feature will allow the building’s residents to take in the expansive views of the Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains beyond.
